Show SqMWest 7 Center, as the building is now called, is one of the largest mixed use office and telecommunications buildings in greater Los Angeles.
The building's twelve stories include nine stories above grade used for general office space, and three floors of telecommunications, data centers and the building's central plant below grade. There are over 30 tenants at the Garland Center.
West 7 Center is a Tier III data center facility built with mission critical infrastructure, 24/7 on-site engineering and security support, located in the heart of downtown Los Angeles. The facility has nine floors of office space and 282,000 RSF of data center space on three subterranean levels. The facility is supported by the Building’s two central plants with a total of 16.9 MW of generator-backed power, 3,000 kW of Building UPS power and 9,000 tons of cooling capacity for telecom, mission critical, colocation and data center operations.
MySpace's prolonged outage in July of 2006 was caused by a power failure at 1200 W 7th. A heat wave caused a utility blackout and the UPS infrastructure at the building failed. Source: NBC News.
Rising Realty has since invested in the infrastructure of the building, and there have been no further reported incidents.
