Stockland has announced plans to build a five-story new data center in Sydney, which, according to the Australian Financial Review, might be for Amazon Web Services (AWS). The facility, worth AU$264 million (US$204.3 million), was reportedly fast-tracked by the New South Wales Government due to it being labelled a State Significant Development (SSD).

The facility, located in Macquarie Park, will include 6,300 sqm (67,800 sq ft) of data halls. On top of this, it will also feature 3,215 sqm (34,600 sq ft) of office space, with over 13,000 sqm (140,000 sq ft) for electrical and mechanical services.

Reports note that the site will also have a minimum of 10 diesel generators and will lead to 50 operational jobs upon completion.

The Australian firm’s facility is expected to undergo construction from September, with a view of completion by March 2023.
