Switch has revealed the primary location of its Fifth Prime data center campus in Texas, following a purchase land agreement with Dell Technologies. The campus will be called "The Rock" and powered by 100% renewable energy.

The land, located next to Dell's global headquarters in Round Rock, will provide Switch with 1.5 million sq ft of Tier 5 data center space. Round Rock is a suburb on the Northside of Austin.

This follows the recent acquisition of Data Foundry and will take Switch's Texas technology campus ecosystem to over 2 million sq ft, capable of delivering 185 megawatts of power when complete.

Site preparation and permitting are expected to commence this summer.

Switch founder and CEO Rob Roy said the purchase is "another transformative milestone" in the company's growth, which will allow it to further expand its geographic diversity to the central region of the US.
