Microsoft has purchased 170 acres of underdeveloped land north of Pangborn Memorial Airport for $19.3 million. The investment could well rise to over $1 billion in the next five years to build a multi-phase data center.

Microsoft has also started leveling the construction site in preparation for developing one of the three proposed structures. According to the building permit, the building will be over 244,000 square feet, and the company values it at $409 million.

Microsoft has agreed to pay for a substation, transmission line and other improvements to support its large power needs. The substation is expected to cost $24.9 million and should be completed by May 2022.
