DataBank has announced an expansion of its IND1 data center in Indiana. The company is a leading provider of enterprise-class colocation, connectivity, and managed services. Part of the expansion includes 6,500 square feet of raised floor space and an additional megawatt of power to meet the growing demands from customers.

In recent years the industry has seen massive growth in Indiana due to a combination of factors including a business-friendly environment and low cost of living. These factors have increased the need for colocation, connectivity, and cloud services in the state.

Security measures at IND1 will include full perimeter fencing, round-the-clock on-site security personnel, and dual-factor authentication including card and biometric on exterior entry and all data center entrances. The facility will also be equipped with many key industry compliance standards, including HIPAA HITECH, AICPA-SOC, and PCI DSS and GDPR compliance designations.

DataBank Announces Expansion of Its “IND1” Indianapolis Data Center

Expansion adds space and power capabilities to meet growing customer demands for the geographically-strategic site

Dallas, TX – April 30, 2021DataBank, a leading provider of enterprise-class colocation, connectivity, and managed services, announces the significant expansion of its IND1 data center. As part of the expansion, DataBank will add 6500 square feet of raised floor space and an additional megawatt of power to meet the growing demands from customers.

IND1 is strategically located in the heart of downtown Indianapolis and is part of the Henry Street area, the crossroads of fiber and telecommunications for the State of Indiana.

Indianapolis is best known for its annual Indy 500 auto race, which DataBank is a sponsor of in 2021. But in recent years, the city has become one of the Midwest’s fastest-growing tech ecosystems too. A business-friendly environment, low cost of living, and proximity to vaunted educational institutions make for a fertile ground in which any company can grow. These factors, combined with low power costs and ample network connectivity, have led an increasing numbers of large technology companies to put down roots in Indy resulting in an influx of skilled technology workers.

This growth is driving the need for colocation, connectivity, and cloud services and makes Indianapolis a prime location for enterprise-class data centers. It’s one of the reasons DataBank acquired Lightbound in 2019 to establish its IND1 and IND2 facilities and has announced this latest expansion.
“DataBank’s expansion in Indianapolis affirms the city’s growing importance in the data center market,” comments Danny Allen, vice president Engineering at DataBank. “The region’s accessibility, quality of life, and business-friendly climate are attracting technology companies and talent, making it a natural data center location option for those in the Midwest.”“DataBank has demonstrated its commitment to the metro Indianapolis area by investing heavily in the Henry Street area,” adds Allen. “IND1 represents our latest expansion, and if market response is any indication, it will not be our last expansion in the area.”Security measures at IND1 include full perimeter fencing, round-the-clock on-site security personnel, and dual-factor authentication (card and biometric) on exterior entry and all data center entrances.

The facility meets a variety of key industry compliance standards, including HIPAA HITECH, AICPA-SOC, and PCI DSS and GDPR compliance designations.
