China: Tesla establishes a data center in China to store car data locally

Tesla has announced the establishment of its data center in China. The data center opening comes as a response to the criticisms from Chinese authorities that the cameras on Tesla vehicles may be used for spying.

In April, the Chinese Government published some rules about data collection by smart vehicles. The rule says that all collected data about terrains, buildings, and roads must not leave the country. In response to the rule, Tesla opened its new data center in the country and said that all the data it generates from the sales of vehicles in China's mainland market would be stored locally.
